Emu Park Tandathlon May 2019

Emu Park delivered again. OK, conditions weren’t perfect, but how good was that – especially the swim and beach run?

Check the results out here.

It was a great morning – new participants, young participants, old and even older participants all putting in and hopefully getting something in return.

Super effort boys and girls, entertaining and inspiring.

Thanks again to Brett, Emu Park SLS, the CWA and our course volunteers.

Thanks also to Bikes on High and Giant Rockhampton for their contributions to the random draw – a very nice way to wrap up our morning.

That’s the end of Emu Park for this season, but please check out “The GKI” that is happening on the 15th and 16th of June. And of course, there is the Yeppoon Triathlon Festival in late July – so keep up the training and keep in touch with what’s happening at Frogs. Don’t forget that Try2 do something most Sundays, so if you need some company and some peculiar training options check out the Try2 Facebook page.

Tannum Sands March 2019

Gorgeous venue, stunning conditions, fantastic course and wonderful people sums up the event at Tannum Sands.

Check out the results here!

It is always a treat to see people crossing the line with that glint of achievement in their eyes; and some of you with enough left in the tank for a huge smile.

Especially satisfying at this event was the number of first-timers. And a great turn out of a club regulars. 69 individuals and 5 teams participating on the day. Tannum is a gem of a venue, but the participants make the event.

77 athletes turned up at the Tannum Sand Tri. Testing conditions with a sweeping current making for challenging conditions for some swimmers. Those who were caught in the sweep had to fight hard compared to our strong swimmers – this made for an early open field.

Welcome to the 2018/19 Tri Season

Triathlon is back on the calendar and Fitzroy Frogs is keen to keep forging forwards and giving CQ some fun stuff to do.

Local club activities will again centre on Emu Park with a target of 4 events plus the Australia Day swim and Tannum Sands, which we will visit twice – it is always great to catch some time at Tannum.

We have also announced an October event at Great Keppel Island, which is already taking bookings and will be a great weekend. Have a look at the GKI event page, chat to your friends and get to Keppel for some swimming, running and random fun on a tropical island.

We are also investigating a “Dirty-tri” at Mt Morgan dam in April. If you have never visited Dam No7, you are in for a pleasant surprise. What’s a “Dirty-tri”? – dam swim, mountain bikes and trail running. Stay tuned, we’re working on this one but it’s well worth the effort.

Kids, kids, kids – wherever possible we will include something in our event program for the kids. What we do need however is a few mums and dads to drive the cause and tell us what they want. Aquathlons are relatively easy to put together so if there is a demand, lets do it. Junior tri events are a little more difficult to arrange, but the club is keen, so please speak up.

And we have to get one or two under 12 duathlons into our calendar. The smiles on the little faces are priceless.

Finally, we are open to your comments, ideas and support. At the end of the day, this is not about us as individuals, its about creating opportunities within our community where we can all share and enjoy what our sport and beautiful environment have to offer. We all have a part to play.

Here’s to a happy and successful season.
